Following technological advancement, most of mathematical sciences experienced great advancement, where scholars in developed countries being innovators and inventors of them. Africa especially sub-Saharan countries are lagging behind in this advancement due to a number of reasons including slow and few programs for knowledge and technology transfer, and un-reviewed curricula which suite the current advancement. Though several Africans secure scholarships to study abroad, brain drain wash them away, and as a result Africans’ problems persist. On the other hand, those few who manage to return to their home countries their numbers are insufficient to serve in a wide range different challenging disciplines
In that regard, establishment of TRIMS bridge these gaps in the knowledge workforce and professional skills in mathematical sciences by providing opportunity to the most talented and competent young African generation to pursue an education in Applied Mathematics across multi-disciplinary for progressive future of Africa. Our target is to revolutionize the African mainstream mathematical training by coupling mathematics with sophisticated computational skills, thereby shifting the paradigm from the “paper-pen” convention to a modern computer-algorithm-driven problem-solving approach. The staff and students at TRIMS recognize the importance of research as one of the three traditional missions of higher education and as a means of protecting and improving human wellbeing.
Mathematicians worldwide are welcomed to the Institute to engage in the research of classical fundamental mathematics, modern applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, Data Science, and other mathematical sciences.
